Brian is to apply to ACAAF with interim report for all of the remaining funds.

306.2 Ruth has successfully completed her Education project (Food from the Yukon for the Yukon) and the final report is done and is being submitted.

306.5 Ball mill project - There will be an interim report prepared. There will be a submission requesting an extension due to extenuating circumstances.

306.11 Mary El is doing a radio spot for Terra Madre and there is a meeting tomorrow of people attending the conference.

406.2 Ted Leischner’s name was forwarded as a possible speaker for the Agricultural Conference. Joanne will forward any more names to the Agriculture Dept.

406.3 People should continue to think about and possibly submit articles for Infarmation.

406.6 There was a god weekend in the summer when people gathered for a meeting and helped out at Susan and Brian’s. There was suggestion to further this idea of work bees and dinner.

New Business:

906.1 Discussion was open and active on how to increase production without ending up with less time and more labor inputs. Further ideas should be looked at with open-end discussion for further meetings. Topics brought up today included soil fertility, advantage of new ground, looking at other sustainable enterprises, labor crunches, books to read up on like Elliot Coleman’s.

906.2 There was the idea of looking into a forager position/job. Created somehow this idea would put a connection between small local gardeners/farmers and outlets who require the food. Discussion found it a good idea but nothing beyond that was moved on at this time.

906.3 Joan is thinking of attending the Food Security Conference in Vancouver. Likely a report will come back with the next regular meeting.

906.4 GMO’s and the Yukon is looking like a long term campaign and must be supported from a variety of levels. The APF industry committee is looking into it as well as several NGO’s. Providing updates on any groundswell initiative will help promote the campaign.

906.5 Joan suggested a calendar with photographs and a seasonal start and finish as opposed to the usual 12 month Jan1-Dec31. It was suggested this might work better the Fireweed Community Market Society

906.6 Tom presented the idea of the Slow Food restaurant based on local production. Sheila also included the fact that Mt Lorne is considering a similar idea and looking to upgrade their community kitchen to accommodate the idea.

906.7 VOID a repeat idea same as 906.3

906.8 Tom was appointed as alternative to Claire Desmarais on CORC.

906.9 Ruth Lera is writing a letter of intent to COG to run the pilot project COG had suggested.

906.11 Joanne talked about the soil food workshop and is very interested in attending a follow-up course if possible.

Meeting was adjourned
